‘Héroes del silencio’ was an Spanish rock band formed in the mid 80s by Juan Valdivia (guitar) y Enrique Bunbury (vocals and rhythm guitar), Joaquín Cardiel (bass) and Pedro Andreu (drums). They had huge success in Spain and Latin America, but they also became really famous in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France and Italy.Their influences were bands like Led Zeppelin or The Cult, and writers like William Blake and Charles Baudelaire.
‘Loquillo y los trogloditas’ was created by Loquillo (José María Sanz Beltrán), who incorporated the ‘Trogloditas’ in 1983. Loquillo’s music style was claimed to be ‘too rock to be punk and too punk to be rock’. He wrote some of the anthems of Spanish rock such as ‘Cadillac solitario’, ‘Rock n’ roll star’ or ‘El ritmo del garaje’. He’s considered the’ Spanish Rock King’.
‘Mägo de Oz’ is a folk metal Spanish band formed in 1989 by Txus di Fellatio (drummer). Their music is really special because it mixes metal and hard rock with other genres like classical music, rock n’ roll, blues, Celtic music and folk. They have reached great success in Spain, becoming one of the most important bands, and in Latin America.
‘Extremoduro’ is a rock band formed by Roberto Iniesta in 1987. Their style has been defined as ‘rock transgresivo’ and their lyrics talk about topics like sex, drugs and love, which are often referred to in the shape of poetry.The band has developed an even more lyrical style and has become a more progressive and symphonic rock. It is considered one of the best rock bands in the history of Spanish rock.
‘El canto del loco’ was a rock band formed in 1994 by Dani Martín and Iván Ganchegui. Their music style was often referred to as pop punk or simply rock. Later, they would develop a softer style. They were one of the most important bands in the late 90s and 00s and became really influential to teenagers. With their song ‘Zapatillas’ they actually got bars and clubs to allow people to enter wearing tennis shoes (converse, trainers…) and to start playing different types of music too.
‘Tequila’ was a Spanish-Argentinean rock band formed in 1975 by Ariel Rot (guitar),Alejo Stivel (vocals), Julián Infante (guitar), Felipe Lipe (bass) and Manolo Iglesias (drums). It became one of the most popular bands during the ‘Movida Madrileña’, at the beginning of the Democratic Transition in Spain. Their biggest influences were The Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry.
‘Siniestro Total’ is a punk rock band formed in 1981 by Julián Hernández, Alberto Torrado, Miguel Costas and Germán Coppini. They started with a total punk style but their music developed into a more punk rock one. Many of their songs have also been considered grunge and their lyrics are really critic and talk about ordinary problems.
