A brief history of Bachata
Born in the Dominican Republic bachata is derived from rhythmic bolero and merengue and Cuban rythms . Maracas in bachata Bolero is replaced by the calabash. They where guitars in the style of Latin American popular trios in Mexico , Cuba and Puerto Rico were incorporated.
At first it was called the bolero bachata guitar . At the beginning bachata was not well seen , only heard in bars and brothels of Santo Domingo. In 60s was known as music of bitterness , it meant the state of melancholy caused by indifference .
The massive interest emerged from the eighties , with the rate reaching importance in the media . Today is heard by all the social classes in the country.
The first bachata was recorded in 1962. Jose Manuel Calderon sang accompanied by the trio juveniles. The song is called Drunk with love and Condemns .
