Juan Luis Guerra

He was born on June 7, 1957 in Dominican Republic. Studied philosophy and literature at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. Then studied guitar and music theory at El Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Santo Domingo, He decided to go abroad and study in Berklee College of Music in Boston. He graduated in 1982 with a diploma in jazz composition. He returned to Dominican Republic, and released his first album, "Soplando"(1984) with a group of local musicians, they had a group called Cuatro cuarenta. The group members were Maridalia Hernández, Roger Zayas-Bazán, and Mariela Mercado. What brought him international recognition was the song ojalá que llueva café, this song written in 1989, has marked the before and after on his career.

He was born on born April 24, 1949 in Puerto Rico. He began his career recording his first album in 1972. With many latin stars he performed in 1979 in a music festival in la Habana. In 1991 he was nominated to the Grammy Awards as best Tropical Performance. He won a Gaviota de la Plata in a Villa del Mar International song festival. His most populars songs are el Africano, Abusadora, Comején and A mover la colita. 'Verbo'.

Sergio Vargas

He was born on march 15, 1960 in Dominican Republic. He was very popular in the 80s and 90s, in The Gold era of Merengue. He started his career by working in a orchestra as a secundary singuer, but later on he formed part as vocalist leader in the orchestra Los hijos del rey. With this group they started to be recognize until the point that they had fans club in Puerto Rico. In 1986 he did his first album that includes the song la quiero a morir and then in 1987 he does another album called La tierra tembló with the orchestra. He becomes a solist and produce many songs, the most popular ones Marola, Al otro lado del sol, Bamboleo, Esta casa humilde, Días de junio y Perla negra.is, a person who uses hip-hop and rap with a commercial purpose (people said that because his lyrics were not about social problems and because he came from a wealthy family)

Los Hermanos Rosario

Is a group form by four brothers. Toño Rosario, Rafa Rosario, Pep Rosario and Luis Rosario. Is an emblematic Merengue band from Dominican Republic. There first debut as Los Hermanos Rosario was un a ceremony for the municipal authorities of Higuey, a town in Dominican Republic. In 1980 they recorded their first single Maria Guayando it became a success. After this hit they made Las Locas, Vengo Acabando, Bonifacio and El Lápiz. In 1983 one of the brothers died Pepe Rosario. But this didn’t stoped the brothers to continue with this group. The Hermanos Rosario won Gold Records Platinum and Double Platinum, on the songs Worldwide Tasty and The Owners of Swing. Elvis Crespo

He was born on New York on July 30 0f 1971. He lived most of his childhood in New York but then he went to Puerto Rico. When he was 17 he forms part of the orchestra Elvistec. Elvis decides to become a solist so he brake records with his song suavemente His song was nominated to the Grammy of 1999 in the category of Best Tropical Album But it was with the song Píntame that he became definitely international.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Héctor Laove

His real name was Héctor Juan Pérez Maritínez. He was born on September 30, 1946 and dies on June 29, 1993. He was born on Puerto Rico. He attended to a music School and there he developed his interest on music. He moved to New york city when he was sixteen. He performed with several orchestras in New York. He became a solist and record many hits like El Cantante, Bandolera and El Periódico de Ayer.

Rasputin

His real name is July Mateo. He is a Popular Dominican musician. He was part of many orchestras in the 80s. He worked with Los Hijos del Rey, Wilfrido Vargas y Los Kenton. He did his own orchestra and took the first place in radio with his song Oye.
